It’s a simple question with enormous business impact, and yet, without the right data, it’s surprisingly hard to answer.
That’s where MyTraffic comes in. With Geoblink by MyTraffic, you can finally uncover the true catchment area of any location across our core markets. See exactly where your customers come from, how far they’re willing to travel, and how different zones contribute to your store’s performance.
What’s a catchment area?
A catchment area is the geographic zone from which a business naturally attracts its customers. Essentially, it's the area people travel from to visit your location. Understanding it helps you see who your real audience is and where they come from. With a clear catchment area, you can target your ads more effectively, reduce or avoid cannibalisation between your nearby sites, and gain deeper insight into your customers’ behaviours and preferences.
Why does a real catchment area matter more than a theoretical one?
An isochrone-based catchment area shows how far people could travel within a certain time, but it’s only a theoretical model. A real catchment area built from GPS mobility data reveals how people actually move in and out of your location, often showing patterns that a map alone can’t predict. Some of our customers tried using loyalty-program data to measure this before using our tech, but the volume of accounts needed for reliable results was simply too high to be practical.
GPS-based insights provide the precision, scale, and accuracy required to understand true customer behaviour and make confident, data-driven decisions.
